Navigating Mentimeter Legal

We’ve created this guide to help you easily navigate and understand the legal documents on our website. Whether you're a seasoned legal professional or just someone looking for clear information, this guide aims to set the right expectations and provide a straightforward overview of our terms and conditions, policies and processes. We hope you find it helpful and informative.

What is Mentimeter?

Mentimeter is a subscription-based audience engagement platform provided on a software-as-a-service (SaaS) basis. Mentimeter enables users to build interactive and engaging presentations (“Mentis”) to improve presentation and meeting experiences. Mentis are created via an online editor and participants use their smartphones or computers to in real-time interact with a Menti.

The platform is provided via a one-to-many model leveraging a common infrastructure and all users are on the same version of the platform although the available features may differ from user to user depending on the relevant subscription plan. The model enables us to maintain, improve and provide the best possible experience for all our customers, without disruptions. Knowledge of the nature of the service and our business model is key to understanding our legal documents.

  • As the Mentimeter service is provided via a one-to-many model; the T&Cs and the Policies are standardized and applied uniformly across our customer base to ensure we can comply with our obligations, mitigate risk and provide you the best service offering possible. For that reason, our operational procedures are not adaptable to individual customer demands. Adapting to custom terms and policies would hinder efficiency, diminish the benefits of our one-to-many model, and impact our ability to support customers and users effectively at scale.
  • As we provide a generally available SaaS, we cannot accommodate requests to meet specific customer requirements, for example relating to security or privacy matters. To help you determine if Mentimeter meets your business and security needs we provide exhaustive information regarding our privacy and security practices in our Trust Center
  • Our T&Cs include industry standard indemnities and limitations of liabilities that reflect our one-to-many business model and correspond proportionally to the value of the agreement with you.
  • Our pricing is inherently linked with the terms in our standard T&Cs and set in connection with the risk allocations therein. Any requests to alter the T&Cs and risk allocations may have an impact on your quoted price.

What type of data is submitted when using Mentimeter?

Our users alone control what data they include in a Menti. We therefore urge our users to always be aware of the nature of the data they choose to include in a Menti and we always encourage our customers to have internal usage policies in place to ensure control of what data is being used with Mentimeter. You can however rest assured that you, as a customer, retain full control and ownership of the data you upload to Mentimeter.

How does Mentimeter protect my data?

Keeping your data secure is of the highest importance to us and we have implemented appropriate technical and organizational measures to ensure that all data sent to Mentimeter is handled securely. We adhere to strict access controls and maintain the principle of least privilege for all our employees and systems. Further, as an ISO 27001 (ISMS) certified company our processes and systems meet the highest industry security standards.

You can find additional information regarding our security and privacy practices in our Trust Center.

What personal data do I need to provide to use Mentimeter?

The only personal data required for us to provide you with Mentimeter is the personal data we need to set up your account (standard account information such as your name and email address). Whether we collect additional personal data is entirely within the control of our users as they alone control what data to include in a Menti. In the event a user includes personal data as content in a Menti, the customer retains full ownership and control of that data in accordance with the T&Cs.

As a result, our customers routinely see us as having a lower risk profile than other services that rely heavily on the collection of personal data. You can read more about how we process personal data in our Privacy Policy and more about data retention and controls in our Trust Center.

We hope this guide proves helpful for you to navigate our legal documentation!
